Braddock Farm was started in 2007 with the purpose of providing fresh produce for the Braddock community and creating on-farm educational opportunities. Since then, the farm has grown in size to nearly one acre.
We have built three hoop houses, a greenhouse, an office, a walk-in cooler, and a roadside farm stand. Our staff and programming have grown, too, and we now offer fresh produce for sale in Braddock three days a week, while serving nearby community markets in Homewood, North Point Breeze, and Wilkinsburg.
We aim to be a community asset and also offer fun opportunities for anyone to visit the farm at our annual community events: Zucchini Festival and Fall Festival.
Growing Produce for the Community
Our roadside stand is located right on Braddock Farm at 1000 Braddock Avenue, Braddock, PA 15104. We grow fresh affordable produce for our communities using all-natural and sustainable growing methods. The main crops we grow are salad mix, lettuce, beefsteak tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, greens, beets, carrots, fresh onions, eggplant, and okra. In season we have spinach, broccoli, cabbage, fruit, hot peppers, radishes, turnips, and herbs.
We partner with local family farms to bring you fresh McElhinny sweet corn and local fruit.

On Farm Learning for Adults
Our adult education opportunities include a work-trade program, experiential employment, and our two-track workshop series:
- The Growing to the Next Level series in partnership with PASA attracts growers looking to hone their skills.
- The Backyard Farm series in partnership with Churchview Farms is for backyard growers to build the skills and take a deep dive into selected topics.

On Farm Learning for Youth
We offer youth education opportunities through our partnership with the Braddock Youth Project and the Urban Farmers in Training program.
Grow Pittsburgh employs high school youth from the Braddock Youth Project to work on our production sites and farm stands for six weeks each summer. Students are intimately involved in the workings of the farm from seeding to harvest. In addition to agricultural skills, students learn about leadership, teamwork, and how their actions affect the larger food system.
Annual Events
We love having the community visit our farm. We host two festivals every year which are free, family friendly and invite our community to check out the farm and have a fun time!
- Zucchini Festival – July
- Celebrate peak zucchini season with all things zucchini: zucchini cook off, zucchini olympics, zucchini baseball, biggest zucchini contest!
- Fall Festival – October
- Celebrate Fall and the farm season. Hands on demonstrations: cider making, sorghum pressing, corn shelling. Fall themed crafting: pumpkin decorating, straw baby making, corn husk doll making. Face painting, free food, cider and exhibitors. Fun for the whole family and accessible for the blind!
