Grow Pittsburgh has food production sites throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Area:
- Braddock Farms, located just outside the city in the borough of Braddock,
- Garden Dreams, located in the borough of Wilkinsburg, and
- Shiloh Farms, located in North Point Breeze.
Each of our production sites strives to be an educational demonstration model of small-scale sustainable urban agriculture.
Our production sites also provide much-needed access to fresh and local produce to surrounding communities at our weekly farm stands during the summer.
The production sites also serve as centers for Grow Pittsburgh’s educational and workforce development programming.
Braddock Farms is our largest production site and Braddock’s single source of fresh produce. The produce grown on the farm is sold at an onsite twice weekly, seasonal farm stand, as well as donated to local community organizations.
In partnership with The Frick Pittsburgh, Grow Pittsburgh manages the greenhouse on the Frick site in Point Breeze. The greenhouse enables us to grow produce year-round, and prepare seedlings for the growing season.
Grow Pittsburgh transformed this formerly vacant lot into a small urban farm, complete with an urban chicken coop, beehive, and pollinator gardens.
Previously owned and operated as a private business by Grow Pittsburgh co-founder Mindy Schwartz, Garden Dreams has been a treasure in the local urban agriculture community for nearly 20 years. Construction of two new community greenhouses at the site is currently underway.
