The community garden’s vision is to provide a quiet, safe retreat for our community and an outdoor extension of GVCS S.P.A.C.E.
The goals of GVCS’ garden are to improve food insecurity in the local area; provide employment, education, and entrepreneurial skills for youth; promote health and wellness; and be a focal point for summer programming called Camp W.O.W.
The participants working in the garden will collaborate on hands-on tasks, interact between generations, develop and exchange ideas with other organizations in the community, and mentor our youth in preparing, planting, maintaining, and harvesting a garden.
Community members are welcome to visit our garden at any time and take home fresh vegetables! For more information about the GVCS Community Garden contact Fitz Shaw at fshaw@greatervalley.org
